Subject: ACT 71 of 2014
In the event you’re not aware of this law, Act 71 of 2014 imposes certain requirements on school entities and the Department. Included is a requirement that school entities include four hours of training in youth suicide awareness and prevention every 5 years in their professional development plans. This requirement begins with the 2015-16 school year. (There’s also a discretionary provision, which allows school entities to include training related to child exploitation in their professional development plans.) Because of the professional development piece, I wanted to make sure you were aware of this:
